The Italian writer Ippolito Nievo described the region Friuli Venezia Giulia as a small summary of the whole universe.Its territory is limited on the north by the Alps (Friulian Dolomities, Carnic and julian Alps) and it borders on Austria; on the southit is bounded by the Adriatic sea, from the mouth of Tagliamento to the lagoons of Marano and Grado, to the Trieste Gulf; it borders on Slovenia on the east.
